The Klippan Triofix Recline is a rear facing car seat that will grow with your child. This seat is a Group 1-2-3 seat and therefore suitable for children weighing between 9-36kg. The new version offers a recline function, which is something that the previous model lacked. This will prove particularly useful in cars that have bucketed back seats or where a more reclined position is preferable.
The Klippan Triofix Recline benefits from a separate base which means it can be installed rear or forward facing using ISOfix or a seat belt. Installation is quick and simple. This seat can also be installed forward facing and movement between rear and forward facing can be achieved in seconds. The seat also features an integrated headrest which is connected to the harness making the adjustment of the harness and headrest simple and practical. No more disconnecting belts from the seat in order to change the harness simply lift the headrest and the harness will adjust with it.
As your child grows, the Klippan Triofix Recline can be used as a high back booster seat simply by removing the base. With an expandable headrest this then makes this seat suitable up to the 36kg weight limit or approx 12yrs. It is the most compact rear facing car seat on the market so suitable for small cars. - Great car seat.
The two reviews above are not for the car seat in the picture! I bought the triofix recline above, just over a year ago as it was the only one that would fit my car due to underfloor storage compartments. It's a great seat, lightweight, compact and easy to install. I needed one to take in and out of the car easily as it is used when my grandaughter visits. Her be safe car seat in her parents car was too heavy to transfer between cars every week. My grandaughter loves it and the recline stops her head falling forward when asleep. The only negative point is that you can't recline it once the child is in it. I leave mine permantley reclined, which my grandaughter says is comfy!
- Recommended, but not flawless
I love this seat. I think the interest it gets from others is good, not bad. It gives me a chance to explain about extended rear facing, if nothing else. All the reactions I've had have been positive.
The wheels and pull handle are definitely good, though not great for long distances. It would be much better for me if the handle locked at a couple of stages because it appears to be designed for someone who's 6'4" or so and I'm only 5'5". My daughters, who are 6-12 inches shorter than I am really can't pull it at all. The handle is quite wobbly, so I'm worried it will not last its full life as an infant seat.
I have also found a few other design flaws or weaknesses, like the fact that the instruction stickers are coming off, the blue seat belt guides on the base have come off, and there are some little bolt things that stick out on the side of the head are are forever getting caught on things as I pull it along. I don't know what they're for, but their main purpose in my life is to be annoying.
That said, these flaws are well worth putting up with for the benefits. Having just one seat from birth to age 4 will be great. It's so compact that my 8 year old can fit between the back of the base and the back of my seat without me moving forward (granted, I drive a rather roomy Fiat Multipla).
I recommend this seat, but I'd recommend it even more if they would improve these few flaws.
- Excellent customer service
I bought the Klippan Kiss by mail order. I needed a seat which would fit into both a large car (Fiat Doblo) and a small car (Fiat Panda), and which could be easily transferred between the two vehicles. As the seat is essentially in two parts, moving it between two cars is not too strenuous, so I was happy with that aspect. Unfortunately the support leg of the Klippan Kiss was a bit too short for our Doblo (which does have quite high seats), so I had to return it. I also had a bit of trouble getting the support leg to grip on the floor of our Panda - the leg tended to swing forward. Doubtless if I had been able to visit the Securatot premises I would have been able to get advice about that. My main message to other customers is that the customer service I received from Securatot was absolutely first class. The staff spent a lot of time talking through the different options with me over the phone, and were extremely helpful. When I placed the order the seat arrived speedily. I would recommend this company to anyone.
